"Butter" is the fourteenth digital single (second all-English song) by BTS. It was released on May 21, 2021, at 1 PM KST and 12 AM EST. A Hotter Remix was released on May 28, 2021 at 1 PM (KST). Two new remixes, Cooler Remix and Sweeter Remix, were also released on June 4, 2021.
Later the song is added as the first track in their first English single album Butter alongside "Permission to Dance". The song also appears and as the eighteenth track on CD1 of their first anthology album Proof.
This song achieved 257 Perfect All-Kill (PAK) on Korean charts.[1] The song also debuted and charted for seven weeks at #1 on Billboard Hot 100,[2] becoming BTS's thrid #1 on Billboard Hot 100[3] and marking BTS as the first group in the history to top the chart for eight weeks.[4] Also top the Global 200 for two weeks[5] and the Global 200 Excluding U.S. charts for five weeks.[6]
On October 13, 2022, the song passed 1 billion streams on Spotify.[7]
