"518-062" is a song by South Korean boy underground hip-hop crew D-Town produced by Gloss. It was released on May 17, 2010, and recalls the Gwangju Uprising.

Background[]

This is a song that applied for the "request" of the composition festival in Gwangju in May, but it ultimately failed in the first preliminary round. It seemed wasteful to just throw it away so I’m uploading it like this on Nate Video. The rap is by Nakshun, leader of the hip hop crew D-Town, who is doing activities in Daegu.

The meaning of "518-062" is that Gwangju’s area code is 062 and 518 is the date of the 5.18 Gwangju Democratization Movement. ‘Five-one-eight from the o to the six two’ has a meaning of the 5.18 movement that rose up in Gwangju, and The song was made to ask people not to allow the uprising to fade little by little from their memories and to remember it once again. It would be nice if 518-062 could become a postal code that would send a message to many people saying, "let’s not forget the 5.18 Gwangju Democratization Movement".
